ADVISORY TEAM

blood origins australia advisory team member Dr Todd Wallace

Dr. Todd Wallace (PhD, BAppSci, Hons)

I am a freshwater ecologist, a volunteer with the SA State Emergency Service, president of my local archery club, a club-level competitive archer, and a qualified archery coach. I have been involved with archery and firearms for over 35 years and have been a bow hunter since 2011. I have more than two decades worth of experience building productive relationships with natural resource management agencies and community groups with complex scientific and social perspectives to develop effective decision management systems. I am a strong advocate of hunter education and marksmanship competency programs, and sustainable use of wildlife. I do not consider hunting to be a sport, or a recreational activity, but to be a lifestyle choice that I use to provide food for myself and my family. I decided to join BOA to help counter the misinformation that is often used by lobby groups to persuade politicians to make decisions that have no beneficial impact to wildlife and habitat conservation.

blood origins australia advisory team member Jim Miller

Jim Miller

Jim is a father of two. Butcher by trade, he has been hunting since 1983 from the age of 13 trapping rabbits and then moving on to larger game in 1987. Like most Australians most of his hunting/shooting was always in the name of pest management with a lot of shoot to waste even though I harvested as much meat as possible. Hunting and pest management has been his career for much of his life, working in agriculture and then Government in Biosecurity and now back to self-employment in pest management, primarily wild dog management.

Hunting is my way of life, it’s in my culture and heritage. “I take this opportunity to join BOA because I feel I can offer a perspective of hunting and humanity that brings it back to reality for the average non-hunting mum and dad. It gives me great pleasure to be part of a team of like-minded people trying to make a difference in our way of life.”

blood origins australia advisory team member calem o grady

Calem O’Grady

Calem was a Chef in the UK before deciding to pursue his first passion and become a bushcraft and survival skills instructor. His knowledge of the art of food preparation combines fascinatingly with his love of primitive hunting and wildfoods to create some imaginative and delicious culinary delights. Most recently Calem has started his own bushcraft and survival company “Bushrangers Survival” and has been responsible for helping people access the outdoors in an interesting and adventurous manner. Calem is excited to be a part of the team at BOA working towards vital conservation and the continuation of ethical hunting.
blood origins australia advisory team member ky furneaux

Ky Furneaux

Ky is an international award-winning Hollywood Stunt Performer. Her athletic ability and fight training has helped her land some notable stuntwoman jobs and in 2012, she was named the best stuntwoman in the World at the Taurus Stunt Awards. She is the Outdoor Ambassador for NSW and ACT. Ky has joined the team at BOA because she believes in every person’s right to sustainably source their own food.  Being a bow hunter herself, she is concerned at the trend of hunting rights being taken away from individuals around Australia due to false or misleading information.  She believes that it is very important for hunters to have a united voice in these times more than ever to prevent this from happening and can see the huge positive impact that Blood Origins has worldwide.

blood origins australia advisory team member ryan kelly

Ryan Kelly

Ryan Kelly is a keen outdoorsman and passionate hunter. Having deployed as a High-Risk Searcher in the Australian Army, he struggled with meaning after being medically discharged, until being introduced to hunting through Veteran Hunts Australia. He now advocates for hunters’ rights and helps to educate non-hunters on the truth about hunting. “I’m joining Blood Origins Australia to fight on behalf of hunters everywhere and to help educate the public on the truth about hunting and its importance to conservation, health, and wellbeing”.
blood origins australia advisory team member ben salleras

Ben Salleras

Ben Salleras grew up in the wet tropics of Far North Queensland, Australia.  He hunted wild pigs with bow and arrow with his father from the age of six in the early 90s and has been actively hunting ever since.  He enjoys living a tropical outdoors lifestyle with his wife and young son and is passionate about sourcing quality wild and home-grown foods that are plentiful in the tropics. Ben is passionate about the defense, protection, and promotion of global modern hunting culture in all its forms, and has been a strong supporter of Blood Origins since its inception, and is very excited to be joining the team officially.  He looks forward to collaborating and working with the BOA team toward our common goal, sharing the truth about hunting.

blood origins australia advisory team member craig murton

Craig Murton

Craig Murton is from South Australia and has been in the seafood business for 30 years. He was raised on hunting and fishing and does it every chance he can get. He is deeply passionate about preserving a heritage of hunting for his kids and now grandkids to enjoy in the same country he loves to explore. “When I first learned of Blood Origins I recognized immediately that this was different, and really connected with me and who I am as a hunter. There was no hesitation to me saying yes to being involved in Blood Origins Australia”.

Shane Broadby

Shane Broadby has lived in Tasmania his entire life and was born into a hunting and fishing family. He has been lucky enough to hunt and fish in several mainland states and territories and in several international locations. “For me one of the most important things about hunting and fishing are the memories you make. I truly believe that what Blood Origins does in the community, with changing the perception of hunting will allow us all to keep hunting and so make more memories in the future.”

Wayne Turale

Wayne was born in Adelaide SA and moved to Tasmania with family in 1970 onto a small farm on the rural area of the North West Coast. He joined Tasmania Police and served 20 years as a Detective Sgt working mainly in Criminal and Drug investigation. Here recently he has become politically active to advocate for increased public land access and ethical Wild Deer Management in Tasmania. He hunts at least 70 plus days a year, with all the deer harvested utilized for human consumption including supplying free processed meat to several local families. “I’m supporting BOA because it is different. You are inclusive of people who aren’t hunters or anglers and you explore their reasons why and are factual and informative about the side of hunting that people just don’t know about.”

Shaun Lynch

Shaun Lynch is an Australian entrepreneur with a compulsion for adventure, exploring the outdoors, and living unconventionally. He’s passionate about helping people get started with hunting and using the outdoors as a way to improve their lives. In between hunts, Shaun is at the helm of Dog & Gun Coffee, an outdoors brand masquerading as a coffee roastery.  “Joining BOA was inevitable. I’ve been a fan of the Blood Origins mission since day one because I believe that showcasing the truth of hunting – particularly in our part of the world where it’s not culturally ingrained – is essential for keeping this lifestyle around for the next generation. I’m an advocate for using hunting as a way to reset from modern stresses, to learn real-world skills, and to connect with the land”
blood origins australia advisory team member dodge keir

Dodge Keir

Dodge is a husband, father of 3, guide, podcaster,  and conservationist. With over 10 years of guiding experience across 3 continents and booking hunts for most of that, he has seen firsthand the power of hunter-led conservation. As the owner of Accurate Hunts, he is excited to be a part of that going forward here in Australia. “I’ve found something in Blood Origins that’s missing from the Australian landscape. Commitment to community. I’m excited to be involved in an organization that is proud to put their money where their mouth is and advocate for the rights and heritage of Australian hunters from all disciplines.”
